BNS 2023: Chapter XVII: Section 305

Whoever commits theft—
(a) in any building, tent or vessel used as a human dwelling or used for the custody of property; or
(b) of any means of transport used for the transport of goods or passengers; or
(c) of any article or goods from any means of transport used for the transport of goods or passengers; or
(d) of idol or icon in any place of worship; or
(e) of any property of the Government or of a local authority,
shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to fine.

Hindi Translation

जो कोई चोरी करता है -
(ए) किसी भी इमारत, तंबू या जहाज में जिसका उपयोग मानव आवास के रूप में किया जाता है या संपत्ति की सुरक्षा के लिए किया जाता है; या
(बी) माल या यात्रियों के परिवहन के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले परिवहन के किसी भी साधन का; या
(सी) माल या यात्रियों के परिवहन के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले परिवहन के किसी भी साधन से किसी लेख या सामान का; या
(डी) किसी भी पूजा स्थल में मूर्ति या प्रतीक; या
(ई) सरकार या स्थानीय प्राधिकारी की किसी भी संपत्ति का,
किसी अवधि के लिए कारावास से दंडित किया जाएगा जिसे सात साल तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है और जुर्माना भी लगाया जा सकता है।
